My 2022 Fast
Date: 31Dec21
Time: 21:24 (3hr-Fast)
I am writing this on New Years' eve 3hrs or so after my last meal of 2021, Greek Lamb Kabab with hummus and some fries. The advantage I have is that my taste buds are not 100% there. Two days ago, I tested positive for "illness," and all I can say is that is it probably like a typical cold! I am on day three, and I feel good, just a bit stuffy.
Regardless of that, I will continue with the goal of my 4th Annual Fast. Let's recap my 2021 fast. My goal was to achieve 100 hours with coffee and water. I managed to complete 100 hours. I added the cherry on top by deadlifting 405 pounds for a single before breaking my fast.
One, I have not fasted and deadlifted regularly approaching New Year's eve. This year I doubt that I will reach 100 hours, much less deadlift 405 pounds. I want to set up obtainable goals; hence this year, I will get 72 hours with water, coffee, and LMNT (salt).

So yes, I am not the smartest. Having been tested positive for the Bat-Flu disease on Wednesday, I felt way better Saturday and decided to have a full-body workout. It was a medium-intensity workout, and it was good. I have been on top of my medicines (not the smartest on an empty stomach), hydration, and electrolytes. Took the time to start getting Christmas decorations off and sort of a "winter-cleaning," a full day of activity. As the day began to end, we went for an afternoon walk as a family. At this point, I started to feel colder than usual. Finished our walk, came home, and there was no warming me up.
Started to watch tv, HP20 the Reunion, and I just felt a fever coming on. Took one final shower for the day, went to bed, and I just got phlegm building up. As the night progressed, I started to shake and sweat. To say the least, it was a rough night. I believe I was on the upside of the "bat-flu," and I shocked my nervous system with the workout and the walk that made it worse.
I feel weak. If I were to describe it, I think I am at a tipping point, and nutrition will give me the advantage for the win. Today, I will cut my fast early, time for some family time first, then we will decide.

As I sit here writing the final words for this blog. I started to sweat again. Hopefully, it won't be as bad as last night. I did break my fast around 12:00pm, to some salted cashews and popcorn. The feeling that gave me was surreal. I felt the warmth of the food radiate through me. After I had a protein focus meal, beef cheese, and some corn tortillas. That relaxed me a bit more. My guess is that being sick increases cortisol, and the protein and carbohydrates helped me reduce the cortisol spike I had going on. To top that, being fast will also drive cortisol.
With that in mind, it is time to hopefully have my last rough night at the most. Tea, melatonin (to help with the bat-flu), zinc, magnesium, and CBD. With that, I will try and have the rest I can, and from there, I will have a whole C0V!D update.
